Description

How buprenorphine works

Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist. It works by attaching to the same receptors in the brain as opioids, but less strongly. This means that it can help ease cravings and lower the risk for withdrawal symptoms in someone with opioid use disorder, but shouldn’t cause the same “high” as opioid medications.
